COTTAGE GROVE FIRST!

Whether you saw our recent flyer and write up in the Herald Independent or campaign materials around town, you might be wondering about this Cottage Grove FIRST campaign. More importantly, you might be wondering how it impacts your business.

The campaign is presented by the Cottage Grove Chamber of Commerce with the goal of prompting people to stop and think about local options before they go outside the Cottage Grove area to make their next purchase.

Imagine your household or business budget if 87% of your earning potential disappeared. Not good, right? We get it, because it is happening in our community every day. The results of a recent study showed only 13% of dollars being spent by residents and businesses in Cottage Grove are being spent within the Village. This one statistic told us a couple very important things: 

• 87% of our dollars (residential and business) are making a positive impact elsewhere instead of cycling back into our businesses, our tax base and our community; 
   
• Maintaining current infrastructure (such as roads and parks) and developing new services and amenities (that might include a pool, library, or other community resources) requires stronger local investment to create a stronger tax base.

Any increase in local spending is a win/win/win for our residents, local businesses and the community as a whole. If we work together we can cycle more of that 87% back into the Cottage Grove community.
